Larry was born and raised in Schenectady,
NY. When he left to attend Boston University, he vowed never to return. However,
after 16 years in Boston, he moved back to the Schenectady area and now lives
in Rexford, NY (just south of Saratoga).
Larry is the founder and President of a very successful financial services
company. In 2003, he also began a second career as a stand-up comedian.
He’s performed at many comedy clubs throughout the northeast.
At age 12, he hit .083 for his AAA little league team. In 1991, at age
32, he began playing fantasy baseball. In 2002, he won the CDM Diamond
Challenge competition against 7,500 other competitors. This earned him
a spot in the 2003 LABR experts league, where he finished sixth in his
first experience at an auction league.
In 2004, Larry began contributing to the Sandlot Shrink (www.sandlotshrink.com)
as a baseball writer, “ask the experts” panelist, and representing
them in the Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) expert’s league.
In 2005, Larry won a triple crown of sorts, by winning the FSTA NL league,
Tout Wars mixed league, and again winning the CDM Diamond Challenge overall
championship. He became the first person to ever win the Diamond Challenge
twice. This also earned him a berth in the 2006 LABR league.
Larry is now 48, married to a woman who puts up with his fantasy baseball
obsession because he bribes her with jewelry, and has two kids. His son,
Jared, age 9, has begun advising Larry on baseball player analysis. Jared
also hopes to better his dad’s .083 batting average when he reaches
AAA.
Despite being pathetic as a ball player, Larry is a decent golfer, with
a 6 handicap. He’s also a die-hard Red Sox fan. (However, that didn’t
stop him from buying Randy Johnson last year in Tout Wars.)
